About us

United Kingdom Air Force Virtual (UKAFv) is a group of like minded military aviation enthusiasts. We primarily fly and control on IVAO (International Virtual Aviation Organisation and regularly take part in Special Operations events. We also fly offline for our own missions and virtual deployments. We also utilise our own Join FS server for formation flight and offline flying.

Our goal at UKAFv is to emulate parts of the Royal Air Force but add our own unique twist. It's not our aim to fully replicate all operations and squadrons of the RAF.

Software

We primarily utilise MSFS2020 and 2024 and X-Plane but are more than happy to accept legacy simulators as long as you can use Join FS. Please note that IVAO is moving away from providing support for legacy simulators which may provide issues in the future.

For Air Traffic Control we utilise IVAO's Aurora software and little nav map for mission specific work.

Military Aviation

If you've always wanted to learn how to fly military but didn't know where to start, you're welcome here at UKAFv. Our aim is to provide a realistic yet fun environment, where you'll be able to take part with other like minded pilots almost immediately. We provide a basic introduction to Military flying course as well as ensure you're familiar with IVAO Special Operations rules and regulations. After this, all training is done by practical flights with a few ground based presentation sessions.

The atmosphere in UKAF is a relaxed one, where we won't restrict you from flying specific aircraft or flying from different aerodromes.

Direct Entry Pilots and Air Traffic Control Officers

If you are currently rated PP+ or ADC+ on IVAO, you are eligible to to join us without completing our training program. All you'll need to do is a basic introduction course to ensure you comply with military procedures.

In-house exercises, missions and deployments

As a member of UKAFv, there will always be something to do! we create our own in-house missions and deployments which allow members to learn new things and improve existing skills while flying all over the world.

Air to Air Refuelling

UKAFv Provides courses for those who want to learn how to provide fuel to military aircraft. This course will give you the confidence you need to help support our missions.

Military Air Traffic Control

UKAFv prides itself in providing Military Air Traffic Control familiarisation courses to help anyone wishing to learn how to control Tower, Approach, Radar. These courses won't increase your rating in IVAO and we fully recommend taking division/HQ training opportunities, however it will definitely give you more confidence getting started controlling on the network. Traditionally, Military ATC on IVAO is sparse but with UKAF, you'll b able to control around our flight schedule which ensures you'll have a purpose to control.
